Well, where to start.
Lets start with the "Thank You's". I want it understood that I know that all Homecomings are a lot of work and the previous years are appreciated. But you gotta give it up for the group that did this years planning. Lee and I were only there Saturday and it was obvious that everything was well thought out and preperations in place for everything. People said that the parade and Friday events were equally well done. Hats off to .......

The only bad thing about doing that good a job is that everyone wants the same group to do it next time.....and they will. Look out 2009. If I had just been able to interact with that group of folks it would have been worth the trip from DFW.
Gil has matured into a self assured man who was able to take the unforseen in stride and make sure things moved forward...who would have thought little kids would grow up to be men.
Speaking of men...Lynn Gibson was always a big guy to me. I can still see him tooling around town looking cool and in control....he still is.
Becca, well WHAT DO YOU SAY ABOUT BECCA. Not only did she work tirelessly but she danced until everyone else fell down. I remember her as a little girl and I can still see that person when I look at her.
Betty Joy has been fretting about this since she was employed. Working on the mailing list and doing the early prep work to get everyone notified. Again an upper-classman. I am not suprised the girls did well, but the guys weren't much to work with.
Bless Gay Nell's heart, I called her by her sister's name all day long...and with good reason. I can certainly see some of the reason for Gil's success.
And lastly, Dianne. My little sister Crickett's best buddy. Hard to think of her without thinking of a million things that two girls coming of age in the 60's did. Bittersweet.
To this group Lee and I say thank you. Thank you for the planning that you did. Thank you for the effort it involved, and thank you for the memory you made for all of us. We appreciate the honor you gave me and for validating that we all live lives worth remembering. My thanks for this extends to the teachers who molded our lives and our thoughts. Who worked with our parents to shape our character. But it goes well beyond just the school staff and into the community at large. Many people from Roby chose to believe the best about us and in doing so left us in their debt. When we, as young people, were unsure about a lot of things they made sure we had a sense of destiny. That expectation when added to the expectation's of my wife and children and grandchildren set the bar for my daily life and I am hesitant to let anyone down. I only hope that we as adults, and in whatever community we serve we "pass it on". Roby - the 60s - small town life is a state of mind; one worth remembering.
I am dumping a lot of photos here...I hope you enjoy. It appears that there were only a few folks on the square Saturday night but there were quite a few...I just did not get photos on near everyone.
