Message Board from January 2005 thru June 2006

My favorite day of the year is coming this week so I decided it was a good time to send a report from Michigan.
It has been a glorious spring in Michigan. The trees and grass and flowers
are simply beautiful and the temperature has been moderate.
I continue to make progress in physical therapy after I fell on the ice in
December and broke 2 bones in my ankle and made quite a mess of the ligaments.
I have had 2 surgeries and have now been in therapy for 2 ½ months.
Healing has nearly dominated my life for the past several months. If you have
ever had an accident or illness, you can probably understand what I mean.
Frank took a sabbatical from his work for 4 months to help me and then he
returned to Texas in May. Just as soon as he was ready to get back to work
in Texas, his firm had a need for someone to assist a client in Michigan for
about 3 months. Of course, Frank volunteered and he returned to Michigan and
is spending the summer working here. We are enjoying being together very much.
It is time for the 21st annual Beck Sisters trip and my sister and I are leaving
next Saturday for Stockholm. We were there 15 years ago and remember it as
a wonderful city. We are looking forward to spending 3 days there and then
we will take an all night ferry to Helsinki. After getting acquainted with
the Finns, we will spend most of our time in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
I continue to enjoy my work at Comerica. Even though it was a struggle, I
managed to travel and do all the things I needed to do during the time I was
non weight bearing for 100 days. I had a scooter that I pushed with my good
leg and it had handle bars, so I named it Trigger. Then when I graduated to
crutches, I called them my Spurs, and then when I finally got to using a cane,
I ran out of good names. I work with really wonderful people and my travels
continue to take me to Texas and California so the geography works really
well.
So please enjoy the Summer Solstice, the best day of the year!

Sharron Kiker pointed me to this website and I have had a blast reading everyone's comments. I went to RHS for 1 semester in 1964 (class of '65). My sister, Donna, and I moved to Roby in June 1964 and moved back to Plainview in January 1965. My two e-mail addresses are linda.bowman@hp.com (work) and lbowman@cox-internet.com (home).

Joann Gatewood Terry, class of 65, lost her battle for life Monday night. Her
services are at the Roby Church of Christ on Thursday at 10:00 AM. We have all
lost someone very special and Lee and I will cherish all of the times thruout
our lives that we spent with her. Her mom and dad have always been so nice to
us and of course Mike is classmate ... friend ... hunting buddy and my heart goes
out to the family. It is an unusual life that is spent in such steady devotion
to those she loved.
but there is still problems with the script that allows you to post content and have it automatically appear...Hopefully I will have time this weekend to fix it completely. In the meantime send me anything you would like to have posted and I will manually put it in. It is simple cut and paste for me............I did this one for Ginger........

Hi, Yogi,
Hope you and Lee are well and had a good holiday.
We miss your notes!!!
I just submitted one about a party for Calvin's mother, but it's not showing
up. Did I do something wrong?
This is what I wrote, in case you didn't get it. If you could put it in for
me I would really appreciate it!
Erna Lee Jones will be 80 in February, and her children are having a birthday
party for her on Saturday, February 4th from 1 - 5 p.m. at Lamar Street Baptist
Church in Sweetwater. Erna Lee was very active in school, scouts and church
activities while all six of her kids attended Roby school. We'd love for you
to come and wish her a happy birthday and visit with Calvin, Randel, Vonda,
LaRue and Carlos. If you can't come but would like to send her a card her address
is 3309 Sherry Lane, Apt. 238, Abilene, TX 79603. Hope to see you February 4th!.
Thank you, Yogi! Hope 2006 will be a blessed year for you and Lee and your family.

I have switched from NetNation.com (who has hosted RobyTexas.com for over 4 years) to a company called Network11.com. The old company could not or would not fix the problems on our message board. Today is Dec 29th and hopefully the change will be made today or tomorrow. I hope there are no further disruptions with the service. I will test and repair the board and then notify you that you may resume your communications with each other.
I continue to look for one, two or more to help with the management and content of the site. If you are interested contact me and we can discuss it by email or phone. This is a investment of time ...not money. The site is not an everyday site for most who use it, but is important that it be here when we need to remember who we are. GO ROBY LIONS ... GO ROBY ALUMNI.
I heard that Homecoming may
not happen this year. Let me know, please.
