he has made on the internet through PalTalk music talk room.It is hard to understand
for me that he could touch so many lives from all over the world.I have visited
with some of them and they sure are high on "Plain Bill"!!!. You are welcome

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We
both live in the country between Teague and Fairfield, Texas. My son's first name
is Chandler and he goes by Chan-Man or Mr. Chandler. He is 12 years old and had
a great Christmas. He is on his new Scooter headed to the tank with his new fishing
pole. This is very unusual for him. He ropes calves and we are ALWAYS at our arena
practicing or headed to a rodeo. Mother and I love to read the message board on
robytexas.com. Have a great day!! Lisa Class of 1984 Doris Class of 1965

Its Christmas morning (actually 12:30 noon) and we just finished opening
presents. Luke cleaned up and so did "the baby" Fritz and Traci's pregnancy (due
in April). God is good.
Merry Christmas to you all. I will sit down and write a little about our Christmas
later today. Please send a note about yours. Just hit the "leave a message or
comment" above this note and drop us all a line.

Dog Funeral for the funnies
> Muldoon lived alone in the Irish countryside with only a pet dog for company.
> One day the dog died, and Muldoon went to the parish priest and asked, "Father,
me dog is dead. Could ya' be saying' a mass for the poor creature?" > Father Patrick
replied, "I'm afraid not; we cannot have services for an animal in the church.
But there are some Baptists down the lane, and there's no tellin' what they believe.
> Maybe they'll do something for the creature." > Muldoon said, "I'll go right
away Father. Do ya' think $5,000 is enough to donate to them for the service?"
> Father Patrick exclaimed, "Sweet Mary, Mother of Jesus! > Why didn`t ya tell
me the dog was Catholic?"

Further info on the previous
post. There is a huge rock in a gravel-rock pit, in Adair, County, Iowa. Kids

it is a local guy.

When I was in Roby for Homecoming
I ran into Waldo and Jean Gatewood. I told him I wished we had time to go "steal"
one of his watermelons. About 30 min. later he shows up with 3 melons that he
"stole" out of a patch closer to town than his. The problem with Waldo stealing
melons is that if the landowner sees him out there ... they come out and help
him... and yes the melon was much, much better
than any other.

Hi Yogi- My husband and
I just recently visited Helen and Roy Noles in Roby and they told us about this
site. Thanks so much for organizing this; just wish I'd known about it sooner.
I have gone back and read all the messages from the past few years. Before I retired
in 2001, I was a high school English teacher and Academic Decathlon coach at a
high school in Tempe, Arizona. Since retirement, I still work with the Academic
Decathlon program on a State and National level part time. My husband and I travel
a lot now that we are retired. In 1996, my parents, Frances and O.B. Cave, moved
to Arizona from Texas to be near us. Mother died in 1999 and Daddy died in 2001,
but we had lots of good times with them after they moved here. We have one son,
26, who lives in Arizona as well. He graduated from Arizona State with a degree
in business education but decided not to teach in public school. He is an instructor
at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving in Phoenix. I'd love to
hear from some of you. I've only been back to homecoming once-- sometime in the
1980s and even then, I didn't recognize everybody. Still, I'd love to come back
and see you all again. Maybe we can do that in two more years. That will be the
40th for the class of 1965!!! Thanks again, Yogi, for your work on this site.
I'm looking forward to keeping in touch better. Jane (Cave) Parker

HI EVERYONE ,, BEEN A WHILE
SINCE I WAS ON. I AM RECUPERATING FROM BACK SURGERY .. SO I HAVE SOME TIME TO
SPEND LOLLYGAGGING AROUND, AND I AM RETIRED TOO ...SO I HAVE LOTS OF TIME TO LOOK
FORWARD TO. I RETIRED LAST MONTH, I HAD 20 YRS. WITH USPS IN MAY. SURE IS NICE

JAIL HOUSE .... CLOSE ENOUGH?? JUST WALK ACROSS TO SPEND THE NIGHT HUH?? ha WELL
.... IT IS SO NICE AND I THINK IT WOULD BE A GREAT PLACE FOR ANYONE TO GET TOGETHER....
IT HAS AN OCCUPANCY LIMIT OF 950 ..THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING ... IT HAS A
BAR UPSTAIRS AND DOWNSTAIRS, GREAT DANCEFLOOR WITH LIGHT SHOW AND BIG SCREEN OVER
IT ..A VIP LOUNGE OVERLOOKING THE DANCE FLOOR,ALSO TABLES AND SITTING PLACES UPSTAIRS...
THAT SIDE REQUIREMENTS ... ARE ..NO CAPS ... COLLAR ON SHIRT BOYS !!! ON THE OTHER
SIDE OF THE DOWNSTAIRS BAR.... YOU CAN PLAY POOL OR VIDEO GAMES... SIT AND VISIT

My sister, Sally Sims, and
I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Russia. We spent several days in
Moscow and then took an all night train to St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is celebrating
its 300th anniversary this year and it is packed with tourists. It is so interesting
to remember the fear we had of the Soviets and the bomb shelters we had when we
were growing up and now to see the Russian people who are much like we are.

Really enjoy your web site
Yogi. My email address has changed to kl_holcomb@hotmail.com. Fenton's question

David Noles knows all this information but since he didn't share it with us I
checked UIL's web site. Let me know if I missed someone David. 1913- Parker(no
first name listed)- Broad Jump. 1938- A.D. Hanson- High Jump. 1960 & 1961 - Jerry
Burk- High Jump. 1975- Rickey Faught- State Medalist in Golf. (for non golfers--
he was the best golfer at the state tournament) He is still a fine golfer despite
his advanced age. 1979- Al Gonzales- 100 yd dash & 440 yd dash. 1979- Mary Nell
Clayton- Long Jump. 1981- Mary Nell Clayton- 400 meter dash. 1982- Mary Nell Clayton-
Long Jump, triple jump, and the 400 meter dash. 1995 & 1996- Konnett Mays- Triple
Jump. 1997- Konnett Mays- Long Jump. 2000, '01, & '03- Kandra Lakey- Shot Put.

As some of you might remember,
my daughter Traci thru our church has been to Russia and although she did not
get to go this summer (being newly married and all) she has been keeping me updated
on the summer camps that were scheduled with the Russian kids. The government
found a beuracratic way to cancel both weeks at the last moment, after everyone
over here went over there. I thought that was cruel. But, this is the cruel part....
here is an email card from one of the kids that was not allowed into the camp.http://e-cards.yandex.ru/message.xhtml?id=2b1b7d4aca1fcc9fa40f073f0128657b

My brother-in-law, Bill
Wilson, passed away in Amarillo on June 10 and the funeral was in Roby on June
13. He had retired from the ministry several years ago and he and my sister moved
back home to Roby. They had just recently moved to Amarillo to be closer to their
children and medical facilities. The sadness I feel is not only for the loss of
one who was my sister's husband for over 50 years but also for the loss of my
Roby connection. We spoke often on the phone and our conversations always seemed
to include something about Roby. I will miss that. Hopefully, my next trip to
Roby will be under happier circumstances (class of 1960, 45th reunion). Yogi,
thank you for this website. It gives those of us who no longer have family connections
in Roby a place to feel connected to the greatest little town in Texas.

Yogi, thanks for your expression

your message. My son and daughter-in-law accompanied me to Roby last week-end
to begin the task of sorting family belongings. Scooter (my daughter-in-law) is
from the "big city" of Longview. She had to keep calling her sister in Frisco
to report on Roby. She couldn't get over the idea of buying coffee at the self-serve
station and their being a sugarbowl with a spoon in it (no little packets of sugar)
and everyone knowing everyone else. And thanks also to all those from Roby who
helped ease the way for mother during her illness. Please keep Janice in all your
prayers. She's having an especially difficult time with our loss.

anything away from any of the other sports that Roby has excelled in. The year
the Lions won district in football, which was the first time in 42 YEARS, well
that was excitement that I had never seen before. Tailgate parties, pep rallys
and honk-offs, just to mention some of the excitement. The guys carried us to
a new level that year!!! I should have said in my previous comment, the Lions
and Lady Lions have thrilled us for many years with their athletic prowness, and

was also an exciting time when the boys bb team went to State in 1997. There were
three chartered buses that travelled to Austin. Lost the very first game, but
what a rush to get to play in the "Drum". Robert Onofre, Lonnie Green, Chris Terry,
Shea Feagan and James Arnwine were the starting five (if I remember correctly)

of exciting times playing basketball. Hey Lions & Lionesses thanks for the ride!!!

when the boys were in the bb playoffs and the whole town was so excited. I remember

board area. I know that there are a lot of happnin's going on, and would love
to hear about them. I'd love to know what the ole buddies are doing and what's
happening in their lives. Yogi has done such a good job giving us a place to visit,
it seems a waste not to use it. For a lot of us displaced citizens, it's the only
way we have to "get home" from time to time. Come on and take a minute or two
and let's hear from ya. What's happnin, how's the family, what's going on in town
and out. Would love to hear. I hope all is doing well and will holler when yo
get the chance. Thanks, Pat

Just grazing thru the message
board and saw a response from Barbara Richmond, all is true Barbara, I mean every
word of it. Wish you and Dyno would give a holler and come see us. We'd love to
have y'all come visit. I love to read about what's happnin' around town, what
some of the ole' buddies are doing, what's happened in everyone's life's, but
news seems to be going kinda slow. We who have been seperated by geographical
distance would love keep up however we can on the happenings and would love to
see a bit more news on the message board. Come on all you Robians and ex-Robians,
share going's on so we can keep up with the latest. I know I for one would sure
appreciate it. This is the only way some of us can get home on a regular basis.
I hope everyone's doing well and continues to do so in the future. Let us hear
from ya. Pat Webb

I just read the posting
from Dec.9 by Pat Webb. Thanks Pat for saying such nice things about my writings
and about me. Roby has a special place in my heart. I guess I'm proof that a person
doesn't have to live there long for it to make a lasting impression.

You sure are a quite bunch....
You Roby folks...How is the cotton crop this year....are the Lady Lions going
"all the way"....what is the most interesting thing that has happened in town
lately? We are dying for news here. Alumni .... tell us where you are and what
your doing. There are people who thought you would "never amount to anything".
In a world of work and stress it is comforting to read a note from home. Help
us out.
