Yogi, great website! Quite a wake-up for my city born/bred grandchildren.
Mother told me several months ago about the site you created, but it took an extended
leave for recouperation from surgery to have the time to browse. I shall forward
the site to my daughter in Michigan. She has dreams of moving to Roby and living
in Mother's house for a while. Kathy has nothing but fond memories of the summers
she spent in Roby. My baby (who is now 22), on the other hand, thinks of Roby
and just remembers shelling black-eyed peas, and chopping jalapeno peppers and
onions for his Meme's homemade chow-chow (which he still will NOT eat to this
day! btw, you might tell Lela that the polite thing to do is to age just a little
bit, for heaven's sake! It somehow seems unfair that she looks exactly like she
did when we graduate too many years ago to count!

Merry Christmas. I was doing some housekeeping on the site this AM
and discovered that when I dropped my AOL account I failed to change some of the
web responders on the site. What that means is that some of you have filled out
a form to have your name & email address added to the site or changed and I have
ignored you. I am sorry and I have repaired the addresses. Now .... resend the
information and I will get it posted and have a happy holiday.

Most of you don't know me. Tho I was born in Roby and spent many of
my early childhood days there, I didn't graduate at Roby or even go to high school
there. But, I have a lot of wonderful relatives and great memories of what time
I did spend in Roby. A lot of you might remember my big brother, David, or my
sister, Janice, as they were older and into a lot more of the activities than
my twin brother Mike and I were into. We got into our share of mischief for young
kids, but how much impression can an eight year old make. Anyway, the heart is
still there and I love to come back visiting whenever the chance arises.Roby is
still my hometown, always has been and always will be. I don't visit the homepage
as often as I should, life is busy now days, and things get in the way, but I
was visiting the homepage today and I saw something I had to make a comment on.
There is a writing on Memories, by Barbara Richmond that is so full of feeling
that I can relate to, that I had to respond. I didn't know Barbara when she was
at Roby. She is a few years older than I, which when you're a kid means a whole
different circle of socializing, but her husband and I worked at the same place
in South Texas, and I have come to know her from there. I couldn't help but think
what a small world this is. Two transplanted Robians, far from the hometown, many
years later, meeting for the first time. Life dosn't get much better, as they
say. Anyway, just wanted to share that, and to say not only is Barbara a mighty
fine writer, she is also a mighty fine person. Howdy to all my kin, and to all
my friends. Thanks for letting me comment. Keep up the great homepage and thanks
for letting all of us share in it. Pat Webb

a line to two to say hi. got out of the hospital yesterday after having surgery
on my ankle and foot. was installing a canopy system on my T33 last week and carelessly
stepped off the wing onto the boarding ladder which i had earlier removed from
the cockpit to be able to close the canopy for checkout. didn't take long for
the ladder to slide and after falling on the ladder, bounching onto a steel stand
then hitting the concrete floor i was lucky to end up with only several broken
bones in my ankle and foot however, the last 2-3 days i have developed several
large and ugly bruises all over the rest of my old body. i think say i was very
lucky that all the broken bones did not protrude through any part of my skin.
anyway, i now and doing a lot of pain pill swallowing, resting, laying down, TV
watching and waiting to get well again. enjoy all the pictures you add for viewing.

Loved visiting your website. Theres truly nothing more comforting than
a small town. Be grateful to God every day that you have family and friends nearby.
I want to know if there are any large homes or buildings for rent or for sale?
We are a christian family of 6 people. 2 adults : Deborah and David, and 4 children:
Sarah, Abraham, Rebeccah, Rachel. Plus 1 small chihuahua dog: "Rocky" (Pardon
the Pun) and 1 small parakeet: "Roxy". We want the change of a quieter and slower
pace of life. We are currently near the Disney World and Universal Studios, and
the Kennedy Space Center, and they cannot build the roads fast enough to meet
the demands on the growing population. The schools are very good, but also, very
over-crowded over-populated, and sometimes over-whelming for the kids. It would
be reassuring if there would be a place there that we could call home. To tell
you a little bit about ourselves, I was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. I am a country
girl at heart even though I was raised in Florida. My husband David was born in
Canada, but raised in Detroit, Michigan. and we met and married 12 years ago.
He is retired Air Force, although the retirement is not very large, it is a blessing
none the less. We both love to sit quietly and enjoy the nature that God has given
us. And would love to have our children grow up in a small quiet town. I have
a sweet pen-friend in Wichita Falls, that I have been writing to over 5 years.
She would love it if I were closer to her. I would love to meet her. Take care
y'all. And feel free to write anytime. Love & Prayers, Deborah & David Woodrow

said they came in about 2:00 a.m. one Saturday morning and she was waiting up
for them and said, "Boys, there are only two kind of people who stay out this
late, cops and robbers, now which one are you?" I alway remembered that and have
quoted it to my kids many times when they came in way past curfew. She was a wonderful
teacher and a great lady!!!

According to Dianne Rinker Fegan the Rodeo is August 23rd and 24th.
Back in 62 - 64 we used to have a Rodeo some saturday nights ... in the dark ....
with roping calves and steers. I'm smarter now.

A correction ....... Adam, I did not spell Barbara's name correctly
it was Goodwin not Goodman .... Barbara Goodwin Richmond. Mrs. Hughes would turn
over in her grave if she saw my use of periods, slashes and dashes. Naw... she
would count the fact that I am somewhat literate and not in jail as a major win
for her.

To all of you out there that feel bad if you don't forward messages
.... the Cancer Society doesn't get money for emails .... Bill Gates doesn't give
money for emails ... and "your friends" / "Jesus" / "anybody else" will know that
you love them even if you don't send this back to the sender. These are all hoaxs
and some are listed at http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/
and at http://vmyths.com/ ....
Don't feel bad, we have all forwarded something. Instead, write me and tell about
your day.

Fenton had told me about the work at the picture show. I can't remember
when it closed but I do remember that we were one of the last family's in town
to get a tv because Oddis thought it would be bad for business. And, of course,
it was. Pam and I recently did a play here in Lubbock and were excited to see
Gay Nell and Dianne in the audience. Gil and Scott went to a car show. What a
surprise! AND, I guess I'm almost the last of my class to now turn 56. I think
that Donnie and Cheryl are the only ones younger than me. Oh Well Jay Brown

Frog McCright sends this to me...This
is really a sight to behold! The image is a panoramic view of the world from
the new space station. It is a night photo with the lights clearly indicating
the populated areas. You can scroll East-West and North-South. Note that Canada's
population is almost exclusively along the U.S. border. Moving east to Europe,
there is a high population concentration along the Mediterranean Coast. It's easy
to spot London, Paris, Stockholm and Vienna. Check out the development of Israel
compared to the rest of the Arab countries. Note the Nile River and the rest of
the "Dark Continent". After the Nile, the lights don't come on again until Johannesburg.
Look at the Australian Outback and the Trans-Siberian Rail Route. Moving east,
the most striking observation is the difference between North and South Korea.
Note the density of Japan. What a piece of photography. It is an absolutely awesome
picture of the Earth taken from the Boeing built Space Station last November on
a perfect night with no obscuring atmospheric conditions.

Hi Yogi, wanted everyone to see what the Roby Volunteer Fire Department
and others did to make downtown Roby look better. They painted the old "picture
show" and put up vintage movie posters. It really looks great!! Remember
Oddis and Annyce Brown running the theater and Royce Lynn Eaton being the projectionist.
Royce Lynn would go to sleep and the film would start slipping and making the
picture awful and everyone would start hollering, "Wake up Royce Lynn"
and sure enough in just a little bit the movie would be running just fine. I'm
not exactly sure when they shut the picture show down, but I think it was some
time in the middle or late 50's. Roby Theater looks wonderful. Thank you to those
responsible for making it that way.

that way about you. Rise you men of Roby Hi....ta..ta...ta.ta.
