What a great time
we had this year.....as most years everything centers around eating. This
is the group..
Sharron, Tony, Bobbie, Gary Don, Lee, Yogi, Brent, Rhonda, Nelda, George (standing),
Claude & Doris.
There must be 40 food stands that sell corn on the cobb. We found out several years ago everyone boils their corn except for one booth down on the south end of the midway. Always one of our first stops...I don't know why they share....I think they like to touch. Lee took my photo...she touched me later.
This year they had a human cannon ball......They was a big boom and they shot him about 100 feet.
George Simmons and his wife Nelda were with us this year. They live in Rockwall where Lee and I live and this was the first time all four of us had been together. Lee and Nelda mug for the camera.
Every year we try to do a shot in the auto building usually in a convertible but this year we were too many so we needed a truck. Here we are in a new chevy. We had a very nice young lady allow us to use a vehicle in her booth and took our photo...Here she is Laura with Rhonda .
Tony had loaned Lee some beer on the square in Roby....He paid $what-ever-beer-costs....she repaid him at the fair at $4 per beer.
Towards the end of the day each year we Flip-A-Chick and we have managed to make it into a big deal. One we look forward to all year. This year almost did not happen. It seems it was High School Day at the State Fair of Texas and the midway was shoulder to shoulder. But due to the determination we were all taught at the hands of the Roby School System...a world class tournament played out.
